Peña Aldera Reserva DOCa

Weingut Jalón is a small family winery, whose excellent wines are produced exclusively from 5 ha of its own vineyards. Low yields are achieved for the quality of the wines. The soil is treated only with organic fertilisers; herbicides and other synthetic plant protection products are not used. Thanks to these and further measures in the cellar, Bodega Jalón is organically certified. The vineyards lie at an altitude of 460 to 500 m in the Iregua Valley, which forms the border between Rioja Alta and Rioja Oriental. For the high quality of the wines, extensive pruning is already carried out at bud break to work towards a low yield. Naturally, only native grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano are grown. Harvesting takes place only once the berries have reached their optimal degree of ripeness. If the finished young wine does not convince Fernando's strict quality control, the entire vintage is sold to neighbouring wineries.
