How this wine tastes
Leo Hillinger took over his father's wine trade in 1990 and developed the estate through profound structural reforms and acquisitions of good sites around Jois, Oggau and Rust into an internationally renowned winery. The vineyard area now extends over around 120 hectares (45 own, 75 under contract). In 2004 a new production facility with an attached tasting and seminar centre was built in Jois, combining state-of-the-art cellar technology with sophisticated architecture and excellent design.
01/Colour
Intense ruby red with a deep black core.
02/Nose
A variety of aromas such as herbal spice, blackberry compote and tobacco-like nuances surprise the nose.
03/Palate
The palate is complex, powerful and fruity. The tannin is ripe and perfectly integrated. Very long finish and exceptionally good ageing potential.
