How this wine tastes
The young couple Barraud also work at other wine estates, Richard is the vineyard manager of Château Haut-Batailley in Pauillac. The two enthusiasts only brought their 3.5 ha of vineyards in the Médoc, north of Pauillac, into operation in 2006. Chateau Carmenère, situated in the uppermost part of the Médoc, has now owned an optical sorting machine for three years, which has long been known in the top quality segment.
01/Nose
A great deal of dark and delicately spicy Cabernet fruit such as cherry, blackberry, a touch of elderberry and cassis. Plus a hint of red berry nuances in the background. A great deal of character and terroir aromatics, marked by earthy notes and a touch of truffle. Some tobacco and floral aromas.
02/Palate
Thanks to the brilliant acidity, it feels pleasantly juicy and fresh, which provides the perfect balance as a counterpart to the powerful black fruit. Incredibly delicate and creamy fine tannins. On the finish, more and more herbs and terroir aromas emerge. Delicately saline and mineral in a long finale.
