How this wine tastes
Penfolds enjoys an iconic status that only a few New World producers have achieved. The winery was founded in 1844 on the Magill Estate near Adelaide and laid the foundation for the production of great wines in Australia. The winemaking team is led by the gifted cellar master Peter Gago and has the responsible task of crafting the best wines from a multitude of different parcels, vineyards and regions such as Magill Estate, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra, Eden Valley and McLaren into a coherent and outstanding wine range. The wines produced from this offer a fine balance and typicity for the region or the grape variety. Penfolds' flagship, the Grange, is firmly established as one of the best red wines in the world.
01/Colour
Deep purple-red with violet reflections.
02/Nose
On the nose already a great many aromas such as toasted coconut, liquorice, seared meat, violets, burnt toffee, pastrami, coffee grounds or pecans.
03/Palate
The mouthfeel is creamy/velvety, the tannins are firm and form a dense cloak. Full-bodied, well balanced, supple tannins and a long finish. Unique and very Australian!
