Malpica, located near Toledo, is home to Marqués de Griñón. This legend of Spanish winemaking already began cultivating French grape varieties in the 1970s, which was still illegal in Spain at the time. Years, indeed decades, of tireless work brought not only huge acceptance among wine lovers but also great attention from the international wine press. Eventually, the Spanish state also granted the Count the status he deserved. Since 2003, his winery has held its own D.O. Dominio de Valdepusa, making it one of the rare Vinos de Pago, which currently lead the top of the quality pyramid in Spain. His wines combine centuries-old tradition with the insights of modern viticulture. Above all, the almost proverbial reliability is what distinguishes the wines of Marqués de Griñón.
