500 YEARS OF WINE EXPERTISE: for half a millennium, the world has known that Leonardo da Vinci was a brilliant inventor and artist. Less well known is the fact that Leonardo came from a winegrowing family in the Tuscan village of Vinci and that wine was his great passion. Villa Da Vinci, the estate where Leonardo grew up in the 16th century and where his family already grew vines 500 years ago, still exists today, surrounded by beautiful vineyards. Shaped by life on the estate, Leonardo also put his genius into researching viticulture and developing new methods for the continuous improvement of wine quality. He recorded his findings in letters and sketches. Today, the wines of Cantina Leonardo da Vinci are produced according to the traditional Metodo Leonardo® – from cultivation to vinification.
