Savigny-les-Beaune AC 1er Cru - Clos des Guettes

In 1830, Arthur Barolet founded a small family business in Beaune, the stronghold of Burgundian wines. He was known only to a select few connoisseurs who appreciated the quality of his wines. His grandson – a doctor, also named Arthur – gave up his profession and left Paris in 1920 to take over the family business in Burgundy. Today, in this wine house's 19th-century cellars in Savigny-lès-Beaune, the quality and tradition upheld by the former owners are being continued. The firm owns vineyards, including part of the Clos des Guettes, a renowned Premier Cru site in Savigny-lès-Beaune. As for the other appellations, the best cuvées are selected from winemakers committed to quality. In keeping with Burgundian winemaking tradition, the wines are aged in French oak barrels with a capacity of 228 litres.
