Masca del Tacco
50 hectares in Salento: wines full of joie de vivre, with roots going back to 1949.
Get to know Masca del Tacco
Masca del Tacco was founded in 2010 by Armando and Felice Mergè, but its roots go back much further: as early as 1949, Don Giuseppe Laviano, the Baron of Erchie, established the «Cantina di Erchie», which is why this year still appears on the labels today.
Third generation Mergè
Felice represents the third generation of the Mergè family. He is the grandson of wine enthusiast Manlio Mergè, who began working the family estate together with his wife in the 1920s.
Salento: sea, limestone and iron oxide
The estate in Erchie, in the north of the Salento peninsula, covers 50 hectares of vineyard. The Mediterranean climate and the calcareous, iron oxide-rich soils offer perfect conditions for viticulture. The wines reflect the region wonderfully: aromatic, balanced and full of joie de vivre, from Susumaniello to Primitivo.
