How alcohol-free wine is made
Good alcohol-free wine is not grape juice with a label. It is genuine wine, from which the alcohol is removed again after fermentation.
Real wine first
Alcohol-free wine begins like any other: the grapes are harvested, pressed and fully fermented, with everything that grape variety and origin bring along.
Gentle alcohol removal
The alcohol is then removed, usually by vacuum distillation at low temperatures around 30 °C. This largely preserves the delicate aromas.
Finishing touch
Finally, the balance is adjusted, for instance with a proportion of grape juice, and in the case of sparkling wine, carbon dioxide provides the sparkling finish.

Questions about alcohol-free wine
How is alcohol-free wine made?
First, perfectly normal wine is produced, from which the alcohol is then gently removed, usually by vacuum distillation at low temperatures around 30 °C. This way, the aromas of the grape variety are largely preserved.
What does 0.0% mean compared with «alcohol-free»?
Drinks with less than 0.5% vol. residual alcohol are considered alcohol free. 0.0% variants contain virtually no alcohol at all. The exact content is stated on each product.
Is alcohol-free wine suitable for pregnant women?
Anyone who wants to be absolutely certain should choose 0.0% variants, as «alcohol-free» may contain up to 0.5% vol. residual alcohol. We state the alcohol content transparently for every wine.
Does alcohol-free wine have fewer calories?
Yes, significantly: alcohol is the biggest calorie carrier in wine. De-alcoholised wines therefore usually contain only a fraction of the calories of a classic wine.
