How this spirit tastes
One of the few distilleries in the Western Highlands, and one of the very rare ones located in the centre of a town. The driving force was the Stevenson family, who founded Oban, a small bay, in 1793. Here the barley undergoes a long brewing process, and the stills are the smallest in Scotland.
01/Nose
Powerful and smoky on the nose with slightly medicinal aromas, plus seaweed and the scent of old ropes lying in the harbour. Behind that, sweet tones of wood smoke and freshly cut grass.
02/Palate
Full-bodied with citrus fruit and a soft sweetness, plus smoke and sea grass, spicy oak and malty notes. Long finish, again with citrus fruits and the spicy oak.
