How this spirit tastes
Even though Bowmore is the oldest distillery on the island of Islay, the title of 'Most Famous Distillery' certainly belongs to Lagavulin. This is surely also due to the fact that it belongs to Diageo's Classic Malt Selection. It has been part of this group since 1997. However, it was founded back in 1816 by John Johnston. Together with its direct neighbours Ardbeg and Laphroaig, it is one of the so-called 'Kildalton Distilleries'.
01/Nose
Soft with pure, fresh hints of milk chocolate and lemon. Tea-scented smoke, dry and maritime aromas with fine cereals.
02/Palate
Light texture on the palate, sweet and smoky at the same time. Smoky sharpness, then dryness and even more smoke.
