Bodegas Fontana
Biting cold winters and blazing hot summers characterise Castile. The recurring drought forces the old vines to drive their roots deep into the barren soil. Out of passion for these old vine monuments, Master of Wine Andreas Kubach together with oenologist Matthias Tobler created PROFUNDO. The two winemakers combined dense, dark, full-bodied wines into a work of art. This historic landscape is on its way to becoming a top wine region. This fact gives the winemakers room for innovation. Andreas Kubach runs Bodega Fontana. The experienced wine people of Fontana cultivate the heat-accustomed Syrah grape in the realm of Tempranillo and Garnacha. Interwoven with the local grape varieties, an incredibly complex, dense red wine is created.
01/Colour
Dense ruby red.
02/Nose
Intense and ripe-fruity on the nose, compote-like with scents of strawberries, spicy-roasted with a hint of liquorice and vanilla and a delicate smoky ageing note.
03/Palate
On the palate with a full opening, taut and wonderfully present, a flattering sweetness of fruit and equally long and very harmonious in the aftertaste.
