Get to know Johanneli Fi Weinkeller

Where the vines strive ever higher, wines of character are born. The Johanneli Fi Weinkeller stands for authentic Valais wines from extraordinary sites, plenty of manual work and genuine passion. Inspired by old Valais legends, every bottle tells its own story and brings a piece of Valais into the glass.

A legend becomes a world of wine

Johanneli Fi is said to have been the first innkeeper on the Brigerberg in the 17th century, until she was caught watering down her wine and mysteriously vanished. Today her story lives on in the Johanneli Fi Weinkeller. And not only hers: every wine tells its own Valais legend.

Where wine aims high

From 650 to 1,150 metres above sea level, the vineyard of Visperterminen climbs up the slope. It is considered the highest contiguous vineyard on mainland Europe. Plenty of sun, little rainfall and great temperature differences between day and night shape the grapes. Together with a great deal of manual work, this produces characterful wines with an unmistakable Valais origin.

Deep in the mountain. Deep in the experience.

The wine cellar in Visp is cut directly into the rock. Constant temperatures and humidity create ideal conditions for maturing the wines in stainless steel tanks and barriques. But it is not only wine that matures here: tastings and legend-themed events bring Johanneli Fi and the Valais world of wine and legend vividly to life.
